Amazon Kindle 2: Maybe as soon as February 9th

OK so I have been waiting to get the Kindle for my wife for a while... But with all the rummers out there about Kindle 2.0 we waited.

Now it is all might be true on Feb. 9th.

Replace Body onunload using jQuery unload function

Sometime you want a run a function when the user navigates away from the page. The HTML way is to use the following code

Installing Oracle Database XE on Ubuntu 8.10 - Quick Steps

So there are the steps that i did to get Oracle XE running... Note: i have a large swap partion so this may have helped...

This is the summary of steps... check out this link fo more info.

sudo vi /etc/apt/sources.list
add the following to the top of the file then save and exit

deb http://oss.oracle.com/debian unstable main non-free
wget http://oss.oracle.com/el4/RPM-GPG-KEY-oracle -O- | sudo apt-key add -
apt-get update
apt-get install oracle-xe

This step will take a while to download
sudo /etc/init.d/oracle-xe configure

You will be asked a few question, I recommend chaning the port of the DB admin to 9999 or anything other than 8080 since that is the default port of lots of web app servers...

SQL Plus working do the following

vi ~/.bashrc

add the following at the end

ORACLE_HOME=/usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/server
PATH=$PATH:$ORACLE_HOME/bin
export ORACLE_HOME
export ORACLE_SID=XE

export PATH

That is it... enjoy

My Must Have Windows Mobile (PPC) Software

I been using Windows Mobile "Smart Phones" for years now and Over the weekend, I noticed that my phone's disk space was full, which always means... It is time to reformat....

If you are a CSI NY fan, you may have seen the "CSI: NY: Dead Inside" where

Over the weekend one of my Microsoft friends showed Microsoft's version of QR Codes.

So what is a MS Tag:

"Microsoft Tag connects real life with the digital world. Microsoft Tags are small, colorful codes that can be printed, stuck, or displayed just about anywhere. When you snap a Tag with the camera on your internet-enabled phone, additional information or experiences are automatically opened on your phone. There is no fumbling with URLs or texting short codes. Here is an example on an XBOX 360 game

GoDaddy Linux Shared Hosting - log4j is not supported

I have bought godaddy linux shared hosting with tomcat 5.0.27 and java 1.5 and have been having issues where some parts of the application is not running well. I use log4j to log error and debug message. But I'm unaware of a way or a place to write these log files... I emailed godaddy support and I got the following message.

If any one know of a workaround please let me know, i would be great and saves me from buy dedicated hosting

UPDATE: So i tried to see if can write a file to disk to see what happens.... will nothing happened then i got the following email.

I'll try to use JDBCAppender as per the following page to log to mySQL DB. I'll update this posting with my finding.
